Innovation is our key value. In domestic and international projects our colleagues gained experience in researching and developing new solutions - among others - in the following highlighted areas:

Ontology development
In order to model the knowledge content of a specific domain, ontologies are developed. Ontologies consist of the main concepts of an area supplemented with semantic relationships, and background knowledge. Ontologies provide an essential basis for knowledge based expert systems and other IT applications. Ontologies can be used in countless areas: education, identity management, business informatics, legal applications, enterprise modelling, HR allowance modelling, and wireless communications of course. Corvinno Technology Transfer Center’s core competencies include ontology development as a fundamental strating point securing an enduring value for all of its products and services.

Knowledge based system development
These systems are used for storing knowledge related to a specific domain, for automating specific processes, and for supporting problem solving and decision making. The heart of a knowledge-based system is the knowledge base itself which we develop using ontologies. The experiences of Corvinno’s founders extend to the development of knowledge-based systems with the CommonKADS methodology, and to successful participation in national and international projects including the European FP6 IST projects GUIDE (Government User IDentity for Europe) and SAKE (Semantic-enabled Agile Knowledge-based eGovernment).

Semantic technologies
Semantic technologies concentrate on meaning. They include amongst other solutions for information and meaning extraction, recognition of topics and concepts, and categorization. Semantic technologies provide an abstraction layer above existing IT technologies that enables bridging and interconnection of data, content, and processes. Second, from the portal perspective, semantic technologies can be thought of as a new level of depth that provides far more intelligent, capable, relevant, and responsive interaction than with information technologies alone. Ontologies have a key role in semantic technologies; they serve in many cases as a base for knowledge extraction and semantic search.
Corvinno provides support in application and customization of semantic technologies, especially in ontology development related tasks, in knowledge extraction and in other semantic functions, like semantic search.

Legal aspects of Information Society
Development of IT possibilities in the legal field. We have experiences in modelling legal knowledge for supporting exchange of domestic and Union level legalisation knowledge, providing compatibility, and supporting the work of different levels of legislation and judicial processes.

Mobile education
Mobile education and learning is one of the most promising application domains of wireless communication. It is at the same time one of the areas where the founders of Corvinno Technology Transfer Center have expertise proven in several European Union supported Leonardo da Vinci projects coordinated by Ericsson Competence Solutions, one of the pioneering global organisations in the moble field.
